fingerboard divots on a 60s neck
So... the coronado neck I'm using for my jazzmaster project has some nasty nasty wear divots in the rosewood fretboard.
I hear this is a common thing.. It doesn't really effect playability but it looks pretty nasty.
Anyone else experienced this? Is it repairable?

i think the most common way of filling divots is by mixing rosewood dust (from sanding) with wood glue.

I kind of like the look and feel of the fretboard wear. Plus, depending where exactly it is, it can make it easier to play certain things because it isn't as easy to dig in and catch the fretboard. That said, none of mine have a particularly bad case of it though...

One of my JMs has some moderate divoting but it doesn't bother me in the least. I don't really even notice it to be honest.

I'm going to get a refret so I'll see what my luthier recommends ... coincidently I found this page too that details the process...

Depending on how thin it is overall, a new fingerboard might be in order if you're going to do a refret. You'd want to use the original blocks, of course, and if it's bound, that could be a fair bit of money.

Yeah.... if its starts getting expensive I'll abandon the project...
However I've been playing the neck a lot and it seems to be not wrth doing... I mean it looks nasty but who cares ...right?

Re: fingerboard divots on a 60s neck
I've got a few small divots in my XII project neck (in the typical chord positions), and there's a bit a fret wear, but guess what? The thing plays like a dream, no buzzing, etc. I can easily get frets replaced down the line if needed. The neck divots are so minor I'm not worried (plus, just don't press too hard when holding chords and it won't be a problem anyway).
Bottom line: If it plays good, don't worry about it.
