I just realized it took me about 4-5 months get started and complete the refin on my '65 Jag. Did it seem like it was taking forever to get yours done? It sure did to me!

Yeah it did feel that way that it was taking forever, but then I wasn't doing this to build my one and only guitar...  had others to play anyway...  also I had a second project on the go  (my long neck 3 pup jaguar) so when the 66 jag stopped for what ever reason, I could work on the other project.  The longest wait was for the refinish (which I can't do) and was at the whim of the weather (can't shooty nitro here in winter ... to wet too moist).

But the wait is worth it as this foam green jag is my favourite in looks and as a player

You sound like me...except I wasn't doing a second project. I was looking for a Mustang Bass to do for my daughter though. I had 5 other guitars so playing wasn't a problem for me either. I did the refin myself on my Jag, and that was what took me so long. It's tough to paint here too in the winter. I was hoping to get to the refinish sooner but it didn't happen. Once it got into December I could only paint now and then. When I did get a good day I tried to take atvantage of it. I put on the final coat December 21. I decided not to clearcoat....and that saved me some days. After that, I had to put it out of site and mind to give it ample time to cure.

I love the work you do. Might I ask where you got that headstock decal? I'm going to be building a Jazzmaster and want to make it look as close to stock as possible.

really i would have to mod the tuners? so there is no way ican get klusons on a standard neck so i have to buy a neck with tuners(klusons already installed)

Damn i guess regular one would be fine

by  1966 F tuners were the standard tuners being used.  however, there are many examples of klusons still being fitted to necks in 66 and 67 .(my 67 bass vi has klusons).

there are also examples of necks that were originally drilled for klusons, but then having the holes filled and F tuners fitted
