It definitely is! Thanks to Andrew for all the little vintage screws and bits I needed to complete the project, he is the no1 offset vintage parts master!! And of course thanks to Dave at http://www.eternal-guitars.com for the top notch re-finish and everything else he did to help me complete this project. Like putting on the NOS Fender VI decal perfectly that I was too scared to do! Dave is a highly skilled, easy going guy who was just as enthusiastic as me to complete this to my nerd-like specifications...like the colour..I wasn't happy with it so he did is again until I was without a problem..great stuff! I don't know if I said but in the end I got the colour matched from the original shoreline gold left in the pockets(which we left intact)...so it should be as accurate as you can get. And the colour just blows me away.. :)

On that NOS decal...no big story, just extremely lucky to spot it on eBay for $100!...I double took when i saw it and was convinced it must be a repro, but no...it was a real vintage one. I painstakingly compared it to an original on another vintage VI and it is absolutely identical..even to the way its cut around on clear boarder, the bit that yellows over time on a vintage one..it's exact. I did buy a repro from the guy that people recommended...but honestly, up close it really doesn't compare to a real one.

Only too happy to put all the effort in to bring back such a ridiculously rare guitar to it's former glory!

Amazing! Shoreline gold is my favourite Fender colour. +1 for not messing up the finish to make it look old.

Sometimes I think I am the only one who strongly dislikes relicing. Good to know I'm not.

That decal is nuts! What a perfect find!

re: relic-ing I kinda wish I wouldn've have had my old (long gone) 64 relic'd. Hindsight I feel like I would've kept it if I hadn't. Just kinda.....didn't do for me in person. Oh well!

Still love this project!

I wonder what cognitive processes it was that led someone to think it is a good idea refinishing a shoreline gold Fender in Italian plastic mother-of-toilet-seat p**p brown with matching headstock and put super-thickskin liquid plastic on the rosewood fretboard.

I never had a strong feeling about it one way or another, but I finished a guitar in nitro two years ago, and it looks 'old' now...that stuff chips and cracks of it's own accord, very quickly, you don't have to fake it.

That's exactly it.. The paint on this is super brittle and thin so it will wear nicely if its used enough..

That looks really amazing...an absolute legacy piece.

I don't recall seeing the mute arrangement at the bridge before.

Very nice!
