... is that Tesla "love song" you're playing at the beginning??? hahahah!

It was supposed to be JS Bach transcribed to guitar but I'm a bit rusty.

hate to say that (gorgeus restoration man), but while you were there, why didn't you add more option in the circuitry? not necessarily something jazz/jag complex, but more options to shape the tone... on that new pickguard there's place enough for more switches

Re: Univox UC-2 resto ~ custom
Meh...not my style. I wanted a clean look so the thought of adding stuff never occurred to me.
I have a home built flying V with 2 humbuckers and ONE knob. It's a master volume that push/pulls to select pickups.
Anyway, I've not been able to put this thing down and the trem is working famously. It can't do the hair band bends but for that gentle dive you hear in 50's and Surf music, comes right back to tune.

talking about the vibrato (or tremolo if you prefer)...vr6pilot wrote:Meh...not my style. I wanted a clean look so the thought of adding stuff never occurred to me.

the other day I removed the whole unit from my UC-2 to see why the hell the arm was loose to the point that it could not be put in place safely... I lowered the screw under the cylinder that holds the arm (sorry I don't know the correct term for it) and I've been able to screw up the arm, anyway the threaded part of the "cylinder" is really ruined...
I had to put some teflon tape around the arm, anyway now it stands in place firmly enough (at least it won't fall on the floor anymore)...
now the vibrato (or tremolo) works fairly good, but when it comes back in place after bending, the guitar is not tuned anymore, especially the D and G strings...
I tried adjusting the screw that regulates the spring tension but those 2 strings are always detuned...
any hint? could it be a problem related to the saddles? [and yes, the strings have seen some playing, but are still in a pretty decent condition...]

Re: Univox UC-2 resto ~ custom
If you go back and read my write-up of what i did with my trem...the part about cleaning the "axles" that the saddles roll on and giving them some lube until they rolled very freely. Also, about using a more firm material for the trem return pad. It's a pretty simple device. You'll also need to see what's going on at the nut (some graphite to ensure easy slippage) and how the strings are holding at the tuners which I think is the weak link in the chain.
Good luck!
