Re: ADH/Gonk/theworkoffire restoring '72 JM neck
just to echo whats already been said, this is absolutely incredible. Great recovery Ben, and further more, Pat has the patience of a saint because i would have long ago just bought a different guitar and used that neck as the worlds least efficient oar or learned to play cricket and used that as a bat or something asinine.
Seriously incredible though, congrats to everyone involved!

well it's DONE.
sorry for taking so long to post this... Ben even shipped it before I arrived here in Germany, so it could be assembled EXACTLY 5 years after this voyage began.
so, here she is:
eh?
i still need to find my allan keys (?) so i can set up the bridge and saddles correctly, as now it's buzzing pretty bad, but the neck looks and feels incredible!!!
God this has been such an amazing and exciting wait.
I can never thank all the involved parties enough. i love this place and all of you.
this shall from now on be known as the OSG-master, because there were so many of you involved:
- xrleroyx bought the 1969 Jazzmaster in the States and sent 'er to me
- of that '69 JM, i assembled another one with the '72 body and the '69 neck and traded that one for my Maverick with Rick
- that's about when this thread started, and i sent that neck to ADH who did the initial work
- after that, it was over at Gonkulator who did some more stuff on it
- and as you all might know, theworkoffire did the mega-magic of bringing it REALLY back to life.
- the bridge pickup is a Bullock, which was made by someone here called Matt (toez10), too.
so... GOD BLESS YOU ALL. YOU ROCK!!!
expect to see this one onstage soon!

My hat goes off to Ben. When I got that neck I felt confident I could fix it, but after I started I was frozen with anxiety. Every procedure I imagined to do the job just seemed too iffy to attempt on a vintage neck. I knew I could get the neck prepped well enough to accept a new board, but fitting the board to the curved radius seemed like it would require sorcery. Ben is a wizard. He works with fire.

We've got five years, stuck on my eyes
We've got five years, what a surprise

Hot damn, she is a BEAUTY all put together!! indeed. Everyone involved at some point in that neck is a wizard in their own right and this has been so cool to read. In typical OSG fashion, I'd be remiss if I didn't request some audio or video clips. Give her a spin Pat!
