That pickguard crack could be repaired to be almost invisible. I've done it several times. You simply glue and clamp the crack.. filling any voids with superplue and pickguard dust. Then carefully level and buff with increasing grits of wet & dry sandpapers, until you can't detect anything with your fingernail. Touchup any discoloration with a bit of matching paint applied with a tiny artists brush and there you have it. Of course you have to open up the pickup hole a bit to relieve pressure, so it doesn't pop apart again when you install the pickup.

I just bought a 59' body, that needs a neck, and I'm considering a Musikraft.

How is it compared to the original?

Did Musikraft do the matching headstock and logo?

I love Musikraft necks. If you pay for the right options for what you love, you can't go wrong. I trust that the neck thickness and contours you choose from online are accurate in the final product. It's worth it to upgrade for the better wood options, mind you.

Cool. I was wondering if there was a clean way to repair the split I have in a '59 tort guard- at that really thin bit above one of the rhythm circuit pots.I'm thinking that the two sides might gap a little due to shrinkage, though. Anyone think the superglue+dust would hold that together? It seems like I'd want to back it up with something wafer-thin. As an old roadie my thoughts run to gaffer's but that would be soooo incorrect.

I really like this guitar. Looks great in Inca Silver. That may be my favorite color for a Jazzmaster. Very nice.

Greetings, first of all, that is a beautiful guitar and very excellent work done you have. I am just wondering, since I have read somewhere says the jazzmasters from the year 60 - 61 have beefier necks, is it possible for you to tell if your one is a U neck, a thick C neck, or it actually has the same neck contour as the 62 reissue?Thanks a lot.

Welcome! This isn't my guitar but I always ask neck profile questions so...

I can say that unless its a custom order, new guitar you'll likely not find a U-shape on a vintage JM. I'm curious too but willing to bet its close to the AVRI shape but with more girth around the 12th fret.

The 1960 neck I have is very much a C shape and it's a little thinner than the AVRI 62, but very close.

I'm not aware if 58-59 JM necks have more "shoulder" and a thicker contour, but I do not find 60-61 to be the case.

In my humble experiences, I've compared necks when I can and I experienced that they appeared beefier, rounder during 63-65 on Jazzmasters and Jaguars.

My AUG 64 neck is .79" and .98". Real big around the 12th but super comfy, even with such an exaggerated taper.
