XII restoration project...

....some of you may have already figured this out just by the timing of the post, but it was me who won the XII body/neck earlier tonight with the heat damage.  I figure it will be a good long term project for me since I have been GAS-ing for either an aged LPB or IBM(per Zhivago's recent thread) XII for a while now and it looks like this body may need a fresh strip and clean as it sounds like there were some issues with the finish.

I'm still not sure what to do about that neck - I'll access the damage and either keep it "as is", make it a matching headstock, or if it's not structurally sound, I'll copy the neck and put it back on ebay for someone else to take a chance with.

I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for parts over the next several months and maybe by then there will be some Novak XII pickups to try.  I'm most worried about finding the input jack plate.  Does anyone know if the measurements for the bridge pieces on those Venus XIIs or old strat XIIs are the same dimensions as vintage pieces?

Anyway, I'm setting a timetable for myself of around three months to finish this as that will be around the time our baby gets here and I imagine any project I have still outstanding around that time will be on hold for a while...

8) great project.. best of luck with the neck, it's hard to tell if it's ok until you get it but hopefully it's sound. Angela had the plate listed on their site for a while but it's not any longer.. the string guide is still listed as is the switch knob flipper thing, there's another one on ebay that ends tonight.. might go cheaper than Angela is charging.
