WHAT THIS SECTION IS FOR...
Use this section to post any repair, upgrade, parts-replacement, refin, etc of your VINTAGE (pre-1980) guitar:
It doesn't necessarily have to be offset (or Fender), although that's our main focus here.
It doesn't have to be a complete step-by-step restoration, although those are encouraged and more-than-welcome.
You can also ask questions here regarding vintage colors, parts, materials, etc. etc.
For example:
- When did they switch the widget from type X to type Y?
- What finishes were available in 1912?
- The chrome kahuten valve on my '38 Turdmaster is corroded shut! HELP!
You get the idea. No one is going to bite your head off if your post falls into a gray area. As long as it's VINTAGE and repair, restore, rehab (refret etc) or maintenance related... it can go here.
Please note, vintage style copy work and scratch-builds DO NOT belong here. Use the Project Section for those. Setup/Tech questions still go in that section. As I said, don't worry if it's a bit gray... but please try to discern if your tech question is particular to vintage or not. Just use your best judgment.
Partsmasters are OK here as long as the majority of parts are vintage.

..and you have moved all the old threads already!
Great section and good thing to split them up!
It will give you mods more work though - as today it's hard for people to post tech Q's in the tech section and projects in the projects section etc....

For the sake of clarity and to avoid possible rough spots, it could help some if the term vintage was defined at least in some general way. As a comment to the post above:
In Sweden there is an age limit what's concerned a Vintage car - this have to do with what type of annual taxes you have to pay for it - the limit is set to 25 years and older for the term Vintage car (or Veteran) - the Veteran cars have no taxes and also the insurances are much lower.
1980 was the last year of the old/original/vintage production of the Jazzmaster, so that may also be a good guideline maybe - after all this is OFFSET guitars, isn't it?...

Yes, we'll clearly define vintage here as pre-1980 since that's when Fender ceased production of the offset models. It happens to also be around the same time the Japanese started producing good quality knock-offs. Nice job Doug, that's for sorting through them all!!
