October '66 Jaguar Restoration

Post by serial » Tue Mar 06, 2007 3:33 pm

Here's the beginning of this restoration project.  Believe it or not, it started out as a white '66 pickguard...

Still need a few parts here and there (tuners, correct "F" plate-has a '70 on there now-, decal, arm and correct bridge), but it's coming together.
I'm thinking Seafoam Green.  I prefer Surf Green, but hey, that wouldn't be correct for a '66 now, would it?!  :)

Looks like a guilt-free matching headstock refinish to me!

Wow!  Did you just put the pickguard in a moist, dark place for a few months?  It grew up nice.  I'd go for sonic blue with matching hs.

I thought about sonic blue, but that was the color of the last one I had custody of!

C'mon!  That one was also an October, '66, wasn't it?!!?

I want some of those magic pickguard beans too...

Do they come in "Jazzmaster"?

If I had those beans, I'd be a plantin' fool.

very nice ... make sure you take lots of photos ...  btw is the electronics vintage as well  (wires/pots)

i vote seafoam green (actually correctly named as foam green)  can't have too many of that colour
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Everything is vintage and a lot is from this guitar.  The mute, trem, pickups, pickguard shield, the volume pot and one of the plates (the lead circuit plate) are from the same '65 Jag (a different one than THIS one, obviously, but the parts are all matched).

I have a weakness for '70s natural refins.  That guitar looks great as-is - ust put a new decal on it and you're good to go.

Just heard from Curtis yesterday-ready to go, I just need to get the shipping costs!  To say that I'm stoked is a slight understatement!
