Shouldn't it have
black $trat knobs ala the other (ash body / black guard) Fenders of the period?
Scott... what color are your '78 knobs?
pink, err I mean black:
And yes, the tonestop (tm) has been removed.
Carb: Any other info you want, just ask.

Well seeing as the only change mentioned was replacing the knobs, that shouldn't be too tough! Thanks!

Beautiful! The wood on that looks amazing, and the sunburst is really nice.

Now that's how a sunburst should look: light and translucent.

Exactly. I got flak for saying this last time, but those 60's bursts where you can't even see the wood grain just look awful to me.

Thanks to the help of moderator 'fullerplast', she's now set up with these great 1977 knobs! He also got me that black trem bar tip.

I missed this thread first time around - Just like to add my voice to the crowd and say that's an absolute beauty. What a find. It makes a complete mockery of anyone buying or making aftermarket relics for the same price.
Well done

Doug needs to set me up with that Tele he has (or had?)...
It's HAS...
.... and no way!
I've sold far too many that I now regret. That Tele goes to my son when I kick off...
(hope that's not
too soon!)

Wow, popping out $1800 just like that?!
What do you do, and how do you do it?
When you encounter a nice 30 yo JM like this, money is no object. Right?
It may or may not have a "7-digits" stamp on its neck heel, which states model code (JM being 01 shared with Precision Bass?), fingerboard variety (01 for rosewood), week of the year (last week of December being 52), and the year in single digit. They say a lot of necks are missing such stamps as it went toward late 70's. If you have a chance, I am just curious.
I have a '78 Mustang and will check its serial number later to see how close or far they are.
