Still gotta dig my heels in on the green-and-tort combo. Looks like a Christmas decoration.
For me as well. ^^^THIS^^^

Where I agree the white/mint guards look great on most custom color guitars and I can't stand Sherwood with tort. I think the lighter shades of green Surf/Foam look great with tort.

Amazing work you must be glowing with satisfaction.

As for the guard...some sort of white to your taste is 'perfect', impossible really to say online which but it would ideally not be the rancid mint that I see out and about.

Tort on custom colours is for me getting into middle aged man in loud manblouse with several buttons undone territory.

once in a while I've mulled over asking for a custom yellow and red lava Spitfire tort guard.
NO! Anyway take it from me, with all his guards...like a holy rolling non dolphin stereogram, if you look at them long enough you see Jesus.

I like that old time rock 'n' roll, don't try to take me to a disco.

No green or blue looks good with tort. Not vintage, not spitfire, not any of it.

For me there have been very, very few occasions where tort on blue has worked. This is one...

Spent an hour of work time gawking at this thread. Now my boss wants me to "quit staring at pretty guitars and get back to it" :D

There are a few flaws in the body finish on that un-stumped Jazzmaster that are going to bother me, so I'll need to respray it when I get home. I was hoping to get the paint all done before I left so that the lacquer would be cured by the time I got home, but I just ran out of time.

I'm in Mexico for a few weeks, and I found a musical instrument market that Pat recommended a while back. I almost didn't find it and was close to giving up, but then I saw a guy with a Slash hat and Slash hair carrying a guitar case, and I tailed him to the market.

Here's some pictures to make Pat homesick:

(...it's a Squier Jazzmaster...)

This guy had a few interesting oddballs. Maybe that janky Jolana Star could fit in a suitcase as a souvenir?

Um... I think you need to turn that one into a proper Jazzmaster too right? :w00t:

Wow that Egmond is far away from home!
Not much of those were exported outside of the EU as I recall, cool to see it on a market in Mexico.

Damn, talk about impressive. Great job you're doing Will, I didn't think it was possible when I first saw it in the "why did you do this to me" thread. Can't wait to see the final outcome!
