Newest JM Project - revitalizing a '64...

Post by cmatthes » Sun Mar 16, 2008 7:06 pm

Finally picked up some key parts from bro Serial here over the weekend and did a quick test bolt-together on my "new" '64 JM.  Little more work involved to get it up and running, but this one just feels perfectly tight, light and ready to go!
Looks like I'll be sourcing an AVRI toggle switch, as I'm not thrilled with the one I've got, but a new nut on there and wire up those Antiquities, and this one will be rockin'.

I'll hold off on the refin for right now - as battered as this one is, it looks cool as hell in person!

It has been refinned black (long time ago, apparently!), so I'm not too concerned about more of a restoration job.  As for the "starry sky"comment, this one has definitely been played, flogged, beaten, but will definitely get the job done.

Not sure what it will end up being at this point, but for the time being, I'll probably just pop a new nut on there, get it wired up and press it into service for a while.  Too cool to not get played.

If i had that guitar and the skills to wire/refin & if i was you, i'd possibly also just wire & string it up and play it.
Maybe refinish it later on. Black, of course.... :?

Congrats!

This comment is a bit stupid, smiley or not, now isn't it?  :-\
This one will be extremely cool when finished-can't wait to see/play it!
Destiny's in her evening gown; you're always running late.
You tell her she looks wonderful but she'll just have to wait.
