I found this for sale locally - what looks to be a 1969 Fender Stratocaster that has had a refin, new tuners, refret, new pots, new neck pickup, and some routing. It weights 7.5 pounds and the neck is .87" at the nut, so it seems like a killer candidate for a Danocaster refin. Everything checks out, but I want to double check with the kind and knowledgable folks at OGS:

are the horns reshaped?
maybe the photo is distorted, but the cutaways look too big. If so, I'd start looking for a body, before I dumped a bunch of work into that one.

I think that is just the picture

I agree that something looks a little funny about the cutaways/horns, particularly on the bass side.

The strap knob is def off, but that's no biggie.. Ask for more pictures!

I don't think the horns are weird. Pictures are definitely weird, but from our communications I can tell his internet skills are not great. The pickup routes look correct for early 70's (he says this is a late '69, which the serial number on the neck plate and almost every feature seems true to).

This looks absolutely amazing...I wouldn't touch that finish, just sort out the playability and any non original parts

Thanks for the replies... For the price, I think I'm going to have to jump on it. I want a Danocaster Aztec Gold refin eventually... I'm trying to complete my set! Still need to find an SG, Jag, and well, everything else

Good news... I am now the proud owner of a 60's strat ... will update when the guitar is home.

Good news! It's home, and a LOT less of a mess than I thought it would be. For now, I'll let the pictures do some talking. I have some plans for it - both immediate and long term. I'll fill you guys in along the journey. This thing absolutely rips. Never really bonded with a strat before, but this thing has a legitimately chunky neck (measuring .87" at the nut) and weighs under 7.5 pounds... Think I found a good one!

That is some of the most intense checking I've ever seen. Almost like a well aged bench inside a baseball dugout.

Congrats on a killer strat. As they say, it's yours to do as you please. but man that refin has got some serious mojo, the kind that can't be duplicated. It's definitely one of a kind, congrats again and look forward to seeing the outcome.
