Yes.... Photobucket is holding my stuff ransom. Pretty sad how many forums have now lost their content, without warning. The Photobucket Facebook page is pretty hilarious though. Guitar is currently being setup. Will post a bunch of pictures now that it has the correct tuners and straightened out guard (on another hosting service of course).

Tuners on... Much better looking. Next step is period correct matching set of knobs, original case, maybe some pots (I have two of the original 3), and a refinish in firemist gold Danocaster or MJT refin. The current finish is going to flake off...

Just scored a correct case on Ebay.. No one else bid, go figure. Sometimes decent deals still happen! Will take a picture of the guitar in it once it arrives.

Ugh... This Photobucket thing is killing me! Tried switching to Google for hosting, but it seems that the pictures aren't showing up for everyone. How about these?spiffy chap wrote:The case looks great, but where are the pics in the previous post?
Other thing I've thought about is maybe not going with Firemist gold... Other options are black or the original sunburst... I can't decide. They're all accurate to the year. The only custom colors I've seen from that year are black, firemist gold, and olympic white.

Here are some shots of an original firemist gold...
Also scored an original backplate today on eBay. I know that most people take them off, but I'd rather have one than not!

you ARE going to refinish it? Awh. I like the finish the way it is.
It has a "Crack Strat" thing going on....

The color is super cool, but the finish is literally flaking off so fast... almost every time I play it there's more paint missing.mcjt wrote:you ARE going to refinish it? Awh. I like the finish the way it is.

I'd be tempted to just play it like that until all of the paint is gone and then take it in for a refinkracdown wrote:The color is super cool, but the finish is literally flaking off so fast... almost every time I play it there's more paint missing.mcjt wrote:you ARE going to refinish it? Re: 1969 Fender Strat Restoration!
spray nitro over it to bond it all together?
So when it falls off, it'll ALL fall off at once
as far as refins go, i would say black would be pretty hot.

Nice case!
If you're not going to stick with the cool green flaky paint then I think you're on track with firemist or black. I'd probably go black if it were mine though. FM is cool but too orangey for me personally.
