Mustang Nut Reroute Fix

Post by Groovy Tunes » Mon May 01, 2017 10:23 am

I have a 1975 Mustang that the previous owner rerouted for a 1/4" size nut, but he glued a cheap plastic replacement 1/8" nut in the space instead (there was a 1/8" gap between the nut and the rest of the route). I carefully removed the replacement nut, but I'm not sure if I should go ahead and put a 1/4" nut in there, or go with a standard Fender sized 1/8" nut and fill the 1/8" gap with a small block of rosewood. I've been woodworking my whole life, so I have to skills to do either, but I just want to know what you luthiers think. Thanks.

I've had to deal with similar - it's definitely worth restoring it properly, in my opinion.
