Re: NGD... Domino Spartan
...headstock with repairs.... drilled ...plugged..glue...etc.... you know the process, thought I'd post some pics..
...peg holes wallowed and ratty...
...bunch of holes from two styles of tuners...
.... no pics, after this point shaved down plugs with sharp chisle... then a bit of filler. Was able to spread the crack at low E tuner hole a tiny bit to get glue into it.
....ooooh, little control cavity rot... I mean route! since this has already been "altered" think will clean up the route and extend it into the lower bout as to locate p/u selector switch there.... need to make a template.
...headstock sanded, primed and painted black! Waiting for new Gotoh vintage tuners, trem arm (jazzmaster) and some electronics. still need to make new guard/control plate...this week? Recieved a AVRI Jazzy trem arm holder to replace worn original collet... yup, completely wrong thread... going to drill it out, sleeve it, cut new threads.

Re: NGD... Domino Spartan
Thanks for the comments!.... really excited to get this guitar together again... one step closer with good progress over the last few days
installed new trem arm holder which required new threads....
First dilled out old threads to size of tubing "sleeve" and countersunk each side of the hole. When tube is peened down these chamfers will give it grippy.
cut tube so it's a little longer than hole depth.
support piece on top of a washer which serves as a spacer for extra length of tube...use this while doing initial setting.
use a ball peen hammer or punch to set tube by striking with another hammer. this will expand tube into chamfered edges.
once set, finish hammering down flush, drill to new tap size, tap... oops pic edit crop goof... you get the idea.
new arm holder installed.
cleaned up control cavity route extending it into lower bout for p/u select switch. Floated some Durhams Rock Hard wood filler to level off excessive depth. Also ended up doweling all the screw holes to ensure tight screws.
trial fit!
new pickguard made of back painted acrylic, control plate from aluminum. Tophat is a place holder... looking for some knobs will probably end up wiring it vol. vol. tone? New trem arm cut 1/2" off length... inadvertently ordered an all-parts BP0273-001 which as some know doesn't fit an AVRI holder... well it fits now, clamped it in vice (softjaws) and gave it a few rounds of emery paper to reduce the .007 oversize! It's like the chrome plating on it made it just a hair too big. works great now.
playing around with headstock logo design.
....getting close!!

Um, not to be rude, but that typeface is pretty hideous.
I can knock you up a vector version of the actual Domino logo if you want, there are photos I can work from. I think the helmet is a little over the top too.

...not rude at all...helpful filter to wayward ideas... that's why I like the forum. Man, if you could plot the Domino script that would be fantastic!.... beyond my understanding, as you can see, know enough to get myself in trouble! Consider proto logo deleted! The helmet was too much. After posting these pics was playing a game with the kiddos in one of their magazines where you you have to spot the silly picture/action among a larger scene.... came back to this and spotted several!MatthewK wrote:Um, not to be rude, but that typeface is pretty hideous.

How do we like these?
I can PM you a PDF of the logo and the surround bits - if you know someone with a 3D printer you could make a badge!

Re: NGD... Domino Spartan
...was working on neck... sprayed some lacquer over headstock to seal painted front and sanded back (from plugging old tuner holes) and and was contemplating leveling the frets so thought I would adjust truss rod to flatten neck.... sighted down it and noticed some "ramping" nutside. Upon closer inspection the fretboard was lifting from neck. It seems dry and readily seperating so the thought is to remove the fretboard and glue in back down.... where its cracking upward into the rosewood looks like it could be tricky!? Watched/read several tutorials on the subject since haven't done such a repair before and seems doable . I have a question though... some clamp with string, rubberbands, alligator clamps etc and let it set, unsupported. .... some clamp to a straight edge to assure straightness. The later seems like a good idea. Which way do you all prefer?
