Re: Univox UC-2 resto ~ custom
And now for the story that makes this phase interesting: A member of this forum became such a 'fan' of this project that, upon seeing it completed and without a proper bridge cover, decided to donate.....yes donate...the piece you see above. He told me in advance that the cover would be rough and need some polishing but that if I was willing to clean it up, I could have it. So a big round of applause, much credit, and gratitude goes to Mark (UC3) for his surprising and thoughtful contribution to the project.
And...not to overshadow the story of UC3's generosity, right when you thought this story was over (again)...it isn't. Another development has come about and when I get to a place where I can post the details here, it is something that is sure to stir some emotion and generate some debate. Should make for some good reading.

Assumptions.
However, one more small piece of news - The UC-2 is currently wired with two Carvin H60's but they are both "N" models. Kind of disappointing since all three of my H60s came out of one guitar - I had assumed, originally, that one of them would have been a "T" model for the bridge position but, no.
So I found a proper H60T and should have it by week's end. 12.XX ohms as opposed to 8. 50% hotter = should sound alot better. If you listen to my audio clip, you can definitely tell how weak the output is in the bridge position. Nobody commented on that but..you know you were thinking it

SPECULATION.
dire speculation, sure, but speculation nonetheless.

Re: Univox UC-2 resto ~ custom
So back to this....
Just arrived. A proper Carvin H60T stacked humbucker from 1991 as verified by the DMM. (Carvin was very lax about marking these units at the factory) Perfect mate to the H60N that will stay in the neck position.
Still needs to be trimmed, painted, and installed but can't wait to redo the audio sample for comparison!

nah, criss-cross with black and white electrical tape, strap on a bigsby, and then carve out a recess to house a 4" built-in speaker. Go big or go home.
