I also have a slab board stang from jan66.PJazzmaster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:59 pmthe curve in the rosewood ...where the fretboard meets the headstock. A laminated board would have an almost straight line or a slight curve but in the other direction (at least on a vintage Fender).

Yeah, those '64-'66 Mustangs are really something special. I'm with you on that!Unscarredrx8 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 3:47 pmOh nice I'm glad there's peeps out there that enjoy them! I just love these stangs and I'm glad I held on to this one. The A neck was also a 1966. I remember when i did swap it i wanted a 1966 to keep the same year. I'll never sell it unless i absolutely had to!!mbene085 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 3:43 pmI have small hands. 24" scale and A-width is the most comfortable guitar neck I've ever played.Unscarredrx8 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 3:32 pmOh wow you like those a necks? I found I was always slipping the strings off the fret board if I still had it I'd sell it to you!!
Having said that, I also play a baritone 25.5-27.5" scale fanned-fret 12-string acoustic with a 1 7/8" nut, so big necks don't completely turn me off. I just love the slinky little ones even more

I did this cause it's a players stang. And if I'm playing it I want the chromes, to tell you the truth the plastic looks and feels cheap just my opinion....mgeek wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 2:08 amUnscarredrx8 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:20 pmI melted off old plastic tips on tuners and put on chromes..

Just came to the realization that this project is about reviving the stang to customize what I've always wanted. It's kinda like the white has become old hat and I want to be excited about playing it again! It's gonna feel like a whole new guitar with deep roots!!

It's not the biggest deal in the world and you can do what you want with your guitar, but it does sort of tickle me to see someone proudly melting the buttons off the original 50 year old tuners on their vintage guitar and being happy about that.

Here is the guy whose doing the finish.
http://sjryder.com/index.html
His name is Steve Ryder and does awesome work. He's local to me as well so I didn't have to ship it. He did a candy green on a parts stang I put together and it was gorgeous! Sold it unfortunately. But he's the man especially if you have a fender.
