behind the strings! And that stupid bit of extra wood?! What's that all about? I'm guessing it's supposed to make your picking arm more comfy but it looks like it's gonna make it worse. It's like the opposite of a contour.

That actually used to be a somewhat common mod for Jags, it's supposed to act like a rudimentary buzzstop but it doesn't really work that well. But yeah I agree, that VI looks fucking awful.

they just need to cut off the top of the headstock so it "fits in Baldwin case" like that JM a few pages back, and the transformation would be complete -

I think the silver lining is that it isn't too far gone for someone who knows what there doing to fill in the rest of the body and fix it

Haha. Na. This looks like work is from way back. Unfortunately, we see so many mutilated offsets because they were unpopular for so long. People just used them as experimental guitars because they weren't "cool" back in the 80s.
The guitar went to my local tech for a set-up I believe. Saw it on Facebook. I have hope for this one though. I really do believe it can be restored after watching guys on here piece much worse things back together.
All in all, the amount of wood missing is not that substantial. It would just take someone with the skill

After that Vox deconversion thread I strongly doubt there's anything that can't be restored. But you kinda have to wonder at what point you've stopped restoring and are just basically "embedding" that vintage mojo in a new body.

With will's work on the de-VOX-ing, I was actually not expecting the body to be approx. 80% original. I think that everything over 50% should be considered restoration

You know, the more I looked at it the worse it got. I just realized the body on the arm contour side was made smaller, and yeah that contour addition is ridiculous.
I was too quick to give the benefit of the doubt, but you are right sir - this thing is traaaaaashed

That blue headstock makes me want to buy another squier vi (sold mine last year) and refinish it in lpb.
