You could get the 'mojo' back if you filled the 'etchings' with the ground bones of a forsaken orphan, and veneered over it.

Once a 1954 Telecaster. What's with the scales? :fp:

Is it bad I kind've like the pickguard? Reminds me of the old Ampeg scroll instruments.

It is always a bit strange to see a guitar that is crafted really specifically to someone's personal tastes getting sold:

It looks like the work was well done - I'm curious on folks' take on the price.

I don't mind the guitar, but the price is absurd.

You can buy them for much less than that in excellent original condition. Another dreamer that doesn't understand that modifications devalue guitars almost always.

No, it's not. This thread is mostly full of people that genuinely seem to hate fun.

All-original guitars are fun!

Weirdly-modified guitars are fun!

...all-original level prices for weirdly-modified guitars are not fun.

This guitar had a *fun* finish that I did not hate, before someone got *serious* about destroying half of it - all to expose that notoriously prized, gorgeous, grubby basswood ::) That said - thin urethane finishes (like modern US Standard Fenders) actually chip/ding somewhat realistically, but Squier poly just looks like last year's Easter Eggs.

Comparison feels right to me.

Scary thing is that guy probably had a better up-bringing than Ted. We're all capable of evil I suppose.

I mean poly certainly can be made to look old and beaten up, it's just silly to think old and beaten up poly will look anything like old and beaten up nitro.

My teenage years weren't kind to my old Affinity Tele and it shows -- finish chips all around the edges, wood chips where I've dropped it a few times, little dents in the finish all over -- but obviously it's not ever going to wear down from friction like all these guys with a belt sander seem to think it will. Everything used to be shiny is always gonna be shiny save for some swirl marks.

That is utterly delightful in its tastelessness.
