It's not the useless humbucker, it's the Strat output jack that's

and they want $4200? really? i know it's a custom colour but the fucker has been mutilated. plus if that route was done in the 80's (which im guessing it was because of the pickup) then it's gonna be nightmare city under there. plus really? strat jack?

The strat jack kills it. Everything else you can just hide with a new pickguard, but you'll need to plug it and somehow match the CAR.

Dear sir: Does this rock machine really rock all the time twenty-four-rocking-hours-per rock-around-the-clock? I'm looking for the rockingest rock-crusher of a rockandroll machine I could possibly rock on stage. I want to make sure that this will rock my world as well as rocking the faces off of all whom may hear it's rocking.higgsblossom wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 8:32 amIn my next life, I want to be a professional EBay description author!it’s been played by real Detroit rock stars more than one passed down from rocker to rocker through decades of on stage use In live music venues and recording sessions this guitar is a piece of rock history
(I used to live in Detroit. It rocks. ...though the guitar is in Las Vegas. Is there a Motor City Casino there too?)

Batardized is Basterdized. It doesn't matter who used to own it. Only to those people who put value on such things. It wasn't own by one of the beatles. A certificate of authenticty may prove something to those that want to own the glory. But this is a shame to me that it is so butchered.
But there are alot of guitars like this around, done before any value was placed on them and became valueable later. Then some people own it and just don't care because it's theirs and/or they don't know any better. Yup! I hate to see this Done to a Electric XII.... Just my 2cents

Now we finally know why the Jazzmaster and Jaguar are the best guitars ever: they have a rocking bridge! Built-in rock! You don't even have to play them, they still rock!

Honestly that humbucker in the XII is probably the least offensive thing I’ve seen in here.

I really loved that Banksy thing until I realized that it in no way affected the value and was the actual point of the piece. It’s still cool but it’s not like it was sticking it to whatever billionaire dickhead by doing that, though it could have had the thing either burst into flames after going thru the shredder or if he’d put some kind of acid or something that could have seeped out and disintegrated the whole thing.601210 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 4:18 amTo be fair, performance art and destroying things haven't exactly been strangers. One only has to look as recently as that daft Banksy thing where he shredded a painting as soon as it was sold. Destruction is something that gets a reaction and asks questions, even if those questions have been asked again and again already.higgsblossom wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 12:45 amI can only understand this from a historical perspective. Teenage angst, rebellion and distinction. It is more or less a statement of "I'm a musician, but I'm not that kind of a musician."
It's a counterpart to the music of their parents: classical music, bigbands or jazz. Where players cared about their beloved instruments, and it's a gesture of provocation: "See, we don't give a shit."
If anyone still smashes guitars today, I think it has become an anachronism. Channel your anger into your music, not your gear...
Btw. it's not easy to smash a Fender. Those necks and bodies are solid wood with not too much angles. Gibsons come with built-in breaking points.
I don't think live performances and showmanship will ever be separated, either. Even if you talk about orchestras, the black suits and dresses and the conductor flamboyantly waving around is all part of the show. A jazz band rocking out and smashing guitars would look just as weird as a hardcore punk band sitting around in a circle gazing at their navels, and if either of those things happened it would still be making a statement, y'know? Even Shoegazers standing around like antisocials in the middle of a party their friends dragged them to is an artistic statement whether they think it is or not.
As far as the Fenders go, I'm not sure if it was touched upon in that timeline but the story I heard was that Pete Townshend used a lot of Telecasters cause they were cheap, they could take a beating, and you could somewhat put them back together again more or less.
Art is hard.

Yea Yea Yea!. It doesn't help that I've wanted a '65-'66 XII for a while. It was a real WTF when I saw it. Yup makes me sad
But then again over 40 years ago when I got a 440 6 pack '69 1/2 road runner the first thing I did was throw the exhaust manifolds away, put on headers and mag wheels. Getting rid of the now super rare HEMI steel wheels it came with. So there take that! Ha Ha It's all relevant
