Jesus. Don’t they have YouTube in the UK? Two minutes of research would have turned up a better solution for that bass.

Yeah, the examples of Nash guitars with like, straight up serviceman-level fit/finish, routing, fret problems, wiring, etc. would make a pretty long list. Always been weird to me that their guitars are mentioned along Danocaster as being like, THE company to buy a kit guitar from because Danocaster makes flawless guitars for everyone who orders one, while Nash causes a lot of YouTube reviews where people were basically told to go fuck themselves when they tried to call out their work.601210 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 6:03 amTo be fair he never said anything about Jazzmasters in particular, but I distinctly remember an interview (that I can't find) where he claimed to have threatened to kick his old guitarist from the band if said guitarist didn't stop playing Fenders. I guess it's extrapolating from this point, but at their heyday they were at complete odds with Blur, and anything Blur would be into would be decidedly uncool. Jazzmasters of course have always been an indie band guitar rather than a rock 'n' roll guitar, so you can imagine him having that sentiment.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 10:40 amWhat’s the Noel Gallagher thing? I’ve heard people say stuff like that before but tried googling and found nothing. I know he talks all kinds of shit, and for a guy who put out the records he put out I don’t understand why he has the confidence he does, but I’m infinitely curious to see specific examples of this jagoff talking about these guitars
Naturally, like any asshole with a strong opinion he just quietly dropped that opinion when he found himself on the other side of it. If it's any indication, I'm pretty sure he exclusively uses Nash Jazzmasters, and I'd say Nash is one of those builders who sells Jazzmasters despite seeming to have disdain for their design.
Either way Noel Gallagher sucks and has probably never actually been relevant so who cares.

I've linked to the 'before' showing the small gouged area, the planed neck is several pictures on.

I'm going to write a complaint to OFCOM and Points of View. This is a disgrace. No wonder the world hates the BBC and their agenda.

Feeling sick watching these pictures of the “restored” guitar.mgeek wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 1:08 pmNot a picture this time, but on televisions 'The Repair Shop' (UK dudes will be able to watch this through their fingers) the son of the bassist from Hot Chocolate brought his dad's '66 Fender Precision in to be refurbed, and the 'expert' 'repaired' a bit of gouging on the back of the neck by stripping off all it's original finish, and using a spoke shave to thin down the entire neck to make it match the gouges...

I'm no stradivarius when it comes to that stuff, but personally I'd have drop filled that area and built it back up, then carefully blended it in with the original finish, rather than irreversibly changing the shape of a 53 year old bass with cool provenance

I've just watched it. I'm absolutely incredulous.
This guy is supposedly a PROFESSIONAL in his chosen industry. A professional that seemingly knows fuck all about what he's doing. To be fair to him, he looks like a skilled craftsman but his complete disregard for the integrity of the instrument (ironically a word he used several times in that clip) is just incredible. Not only did he shave a ton of wood off the neck but there was absolutely no need for him to sand off the front of the headstock (and therefore the decal with it) either.
Oh well. I don't know how many members there are on this board these days but he's just bullshitted his way out of however many customers that is.
God, I'm really fucking angry. That's totally ruined my morning.

Sorry! Ruined my day too! And I hadn't even noticed what he did to the headstock!simonhpieman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 3:00 am

It's a total hack. I emailed a complaint to the production company ...sad I know but they need to never, ever let that guy back on their tv show

He's started a thread over on thefretboard. Seems to bit a bit lighter on the criticism then a few hours ago. Presumably, he's editing his facebook thread as well.

Why do people over there support him? Just look at his original designs, they are all ugly. And tHis is not a repair, this is like taking a Bronze Age sword, sharpening it and using it for cutting bread. It will make the tool useable again but destroy its history...

Could you link to that? Very curious as to what's being said. I saw one thread over there where he was taking a bit of flak but didn't see him posting on itMechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 10:13 amHe's started a thread over on thefretboard. And yes, his original designs are shit. Just some stuck in the 80s throwback who thinks horrible PRS flamed monstrosities are the height of good taste. Not only that but you don't have to scroll too far down his facebook page to find someone low key complaining about some work he's done where the strings were left falling off the edge of the fretboard...and a bunch of work he's done on modern Squiers, which is frankly what he should stick to.

it's here
i don't expect anyone from here will do but maybe don't pile on the thread? I don't think he cares and it'll just be deleted anyway.

Re: "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?"
Thank you
I'd love to pile in on him, but won't...if he is dumb enough to have done that in the first place it's not like it would make any difference. Look at the way he's said he wouldn't have done that if it was a first year Jazz Bass...as if that's where the dividing line for not fucking up that neck would have been for anyone with an ounce of sanity
When you see repairs like this

then what he did... there needs to be a society of luthiers so he can be tarred, feathered and have all his screwdrivers taken away
