I missed it the first time but the three pickup JM looks like it had four extra tuners once.

The iconic shape of the Jazzmaster is embedded in my brain so every time I see that added middle pickup I cringe a little. Too much of a tight squeeze for my liking (I feel the same about SGs and Firebirds.
There must be a way of coming up with an under guard "stealth" option.

But this one is from a guy who has the whole history online (I think in Dutch).
So he wanted a strat, could get a JM for really cheap, was into indorock at first, did several refins etc etc
but still most things original as far as I know. I actually think it's really cool.
