HEAVILY Yellowed Offsets (guitar porn thread)
I'm not talking about Olympic White with an eggshell tint or Sonic Blue that's turned a bit pale. I'm talking about what happens when the clearcoat turns straight-up YELLOW and totally changes the color of the guitar. Share any pics if you got 'em! Here's what I've managed to find:
1965 Ice Blue Metallic Jaguar. I found this (overpriced) one at a shop in Seattle.
1966 Candy Apple Red Jazzmaster. Very cool shade of orange. This one's on eBay right now. I love the under-the-pickguard photo.
1965 Ice Blue Metallic Jazzmaster. Someone posted this here on OSG a few weeks ago; I forget what thread.
1965 Sonic Blue Jazzmaster. My all-time favorite of the color shifts. I WILL have one like this, even if I have to build it myself. I've actually seen this one on two different Denmark shops' sites. Here are two photos from each of the two times I saw it. The green looks pretty extreme in the second set, but I'm pretty sure they've got a ridiculously white floodlight on it. Seems a lot of photos from that site come out oversaturated.
1964 Candy Apple Red. Photos aren't great, but it's absolutely beautiful imo. Original red showing under forearm wear!
1966 Olympic White Jaguar. This one is particularly cool, IMO. That bright yellow with the tort guard is just SO sixties to me. The back's yellowed quite a bit, too, but it's downright pale compared to the front. I would play this all day long. Click for huuuuuge.
1965 Ice Blue Metallic Jazzmaster. This was posted to the Vintage Hotties subforum in 2007.
1965 Candy Apple Red. Possibly pre-CBS/transitional given the faded pickguard?
1965 Ice Blue Metallic. Here's a winner: this is definitely my favorite of the IBMs. Beautiful, beautiful shade.

There's 4 of those. '65 was a good year for IBM.

I've actually played this particular Jazzmaster. Is is almost pea green i person! Extreme example of yellowing. Also a great sounding guitar.Carbohydrates wrote:1965 Sonic Blue Jazzmaster.

Competition Mustang with a matching headstock? '69 or '70 most likely, maybe '71.Carbohydrates wrote: Mmm, definitely saving that top one. Any idea what year it is?
