Are you saying matching headstocks on all models were first seen in 62?IPLAYLOUD wrote:Matching Heads started in mid-1962. I have seen a few CAR, LPB, and others with the natural headstock.
Very rare to see a Jaguar...not as much for a Jazzmaster.

Re: MATCHING HEADSTOCK
Sunburst matching headstock looks a little peculiar, but that could be because I've never seen one on a fender before. I think it could look quite nice, but I don't like that the neck looks like it's also been sunburst-ed (is that a word?)

This is just the coolest thing of all time! Do you have any more info on it? The burst looks different than probably any I’ve ever seen... this is just infinitely cool!JoeySlush wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2014 10:55 amFound this old post on matching sunburst headstocks and noticed many were asking for pictures. A couple of years I traded a refin Jazzmaster for a sunburst Jaguar with matching sunburst headstock. According to one of Hollands Fender experts it is the real deal.
Unfortunately somebody screwed up the electronics and I need to get them fixed.
I saw these pics somewhere else with a caption about how this was done often on European imported Fenders but I’ve yet to see another example.
Seriously any info is greatly appreciated!

Re: MATCHING HEADSTOCK
I've seen a strat with a sunburst neck but never a matching sunburst headstock! I personally don't find it very cool... But if it's legit I appreciate the rarity

Re: MATCHING HEADSTOCK
It is my understanding that a custom color was a user ordered up-charge and the matching headstock was an option if you selected a custom color so i think its possible to get a custom color without the headstock.
