i know it's borderline vintage.. 80's i guess? but it was sitting new in the box at my friend's shop. i'd only ever seen a picture of one other in my life!

Performers, Bass & 6 string, designed by John Page in the USA, but were made by Fujigen in Japan (as the newly independant post-CBS company had no production capacity Statside) & included in the Fender catalog in 1985/6, then dropped.

Interestingly, the headstock was based on the 69 Swinger in order to avoid the need to register a new trademark!

they have one of these in a store in mexico city too. and also, never been sold! :D

Not particularly a fan of Performers, but that color is ace.

What are these new/old stock guitars priced at these days in the USA?

All the guitars that have been through my hands (both basses & 6-strings - bought from Japan & The States) made for Fender by Fujigen in the mid 80's have been excellent instruments, & great value for money (even after paying shipping & local taxes to get them into the UK) They compare well with US made Fenders.
