2-60
I believe some bad words were written on a neck and Fender stopped dating the necks the later part of 59 into 1960 then started dating them again?

It would be pretty awesome to pull a neck off of a '59 and reveal a bold "F**K THIS JOB" in grease pencil.
Entered my 12-58 into the poll. 33xxx serial # and 8-58 body date

I wonder what the bad words were, given that it was 1959, it was probably "zooterkins" or some other non-offensive term by today's standards.

No date & 492XX serial number (stamped at the bottom of the plate, not the top).
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Are the last two digits of your serial number 88 by some crazy chance?? I've been hoping to find my birthday serial number on a pre-cbs Fender someday.lazycircles wrote:515XX on the bottom of my neck plate. No Neck Date.

Finally, someone else with a similar configured stamp. Is yours original (mine's been refinned)? I'd love to see pics of this guitar.lazycircles wrote:515XX on the bottom of my neck plate. No Neck Date.

Re: 50's Fender Neck Dates: A Poll
Mine is a bit of a mystery. It has the typical 1960 routing, but came with a homemade 9 hole guard that someone had made out of formica or something. The pots date to 59, but the serial number is 1960. The body is ash, so part of me wonders if it was a special order or something in 1960...someone wanted a blonde w/ gold guard...I just can't imagine any other reason someone would have put a 9 hole homemade guard on it. I guess I could strip the paint to see if it was ever drilled for a 13 hole guard, but I haven't done it yet. this was the best shot I have of it I could find quickly on the internet. I have a legit 58-59 guard on it, although it has been re-anodized. (people always think it is a mascis.)PorkyPrimeCut wrote:Finally, someone else with a similar configured stamp.
