my guitar instructor has offered to "talk" about selling me his 67 original JM. from what he's told me, he thinks it's worth around $3,000. every late 60s JM i've seen usually doesn't go for more than $2,500, and on top of that, this particular JM as electrical problems in the thumbweel circuit. the guitar has had a total of TWO owners, including the guy who owns it now. as far as i know, the guitar is all original, with the exception of some fret work maybe, but i'll find out for sure.
how high should the ceiling be set as far as my price offer? i really want this guitar!
Price i should pay for an original '67 JM

well he'd have no trouble getting $3k for it on ebay.. especially if it's non sunburst
offer him whatever you're comfortable with and see what he says

Impossible to put a price on it without knowing more details.
Yes colour makes the major difference......
....if sunburst , how clean is it........does it have orig case?
Check for original parts (as opposed to period correct parts) , ie, look at solder joints.
Have pickups ever been rowound?
Tuners ever off?
All these things can alter the selling price.
If you can get pics of the insides and out , post them here
