1965 Fender transition timeline questions

Hey guys!

I'm going to be building up a custom colour JM, so trying to figure out some timelines to determine the "best" choices for restoration.

Does anyone specially know when fender (concerning the offset guitars family) changed from:

Mint guards to White?
When they stopped using the black bobbin pups?

If you opened up a April '65 JM, what would expect to see?

Cheers!

Parchment came in 64 and standard white/B/W vinyl in 65 ->

mid to late 64 i think

Def gray bobbins

You never know with Fender, they would use up whatever they had. If they found a box of unused/NOS black bobbins in 65 i'm sure they'd have used them. I'd say everything in late 65-early 66 and later would be more consistent.

I had an April '65 L-series Jag and for all intents and purposes it may as well have been a '64. From my understanding the transition wasn't complete until slightly later that year, so it's pretty much still pre-CBS. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No one really knows. One can look at all the data in the world but unless you were working there in 1965 we’ll never know.

My LPB is an April ‘65 neck date.

Parchment guard, grey bobbin pickups, white witch hat knobs.

Super early ‘65 had the earlier style knobs but parchment guards started in late ‘64.

Black bobbin pickups ended in early 1964, IIRC. I have a mid-64 JM with original grey bottom pickups.
