NGD 1972? Mustang

Post by Rich » Wed Nov 29, 2023 6:45 pm

Well it was actually yesterday, but whatever. I think it's a 72. Seems to be original aside from one tuner, the brass nut, the pickup selector switches, and the bridge pickup. Might be an early DiMarzio? Not 100% certain but it sounds good. The trem has been hardtail'd. I didn't realize the top coat on these could still be nitro that late. The checking looks right and it still has the smell after a little friction.

Still, beautiful Stang with all cool mods.
Dimarzio sds-1 is my fav pickup! Dreamy guitar, perfect for ME! :-*

Looks great! I’m not a fan of brass nuts but otherwise would be very happy to rock that.

Very cool looking 'stang other than the blood splatter :k
Why people don't clean guitars before selling them is beyond me

yeah, i'd rock that. how do you like the dimarzio in the bridge? one of the best sounding strat style pickups i ever played was a dimarzio set in a 70's guild

Yeah, it’s sexy. I love sunburst on a Mustang.

Dammit what have you done...
I believe i have an old guard here somewhere, and a spare SDS-1 pickup and i might change the looks of my Stang, which is quite modded anyways... :derp:

I love it. I always liked the finishes like sunburst, or antigua, or mocha, more on Mustangs than other Fenders. These are some of the only guitars I can think of, where I like the sunburst + pearl guard combo. I'd have to get a new pickup cover for the DiMarzio if it were mine though. The three different colors of plastic would be hard to look at.

Nice! I have a contoured mustang Ash body incoming to pair it with my maple mustang neck and the SDS-1's that once were in my jaguar. :-*

Your mustang is rad, changing it would be a desecration of the natural order of guitar fuckery.
Sell it to me and use the money to buy another instead :P

First one of these pickups I've been exposed to, but I'm very impressed by it. Hotter and darker than I knew it would be in a really good way.

The appearance threw me off at first too. I decided to leave it as-is because I think these mods were done a LONG time ago and I dig the period-correct thing it has going on.

Given the "splatter" maybe this one should be christened the: Hazmat-stang?
