I found something rare, cool and (mostly) useless to me...
I stumbled upon a rare beast - an original vintage (ca. '66) Bass VI case. Total impulse buy...I don't really need it since I only have a VM Bass VI to go with it, since it's been living just fine in its noname standard bass case so far. But cool nonetheless!
Nevermind the Fender decal - I did that when it was new 10 years ago. I will never sell it anyway, as I heavily upgraded it (Fender vibrato unit, staytrem arm and bridge, LaBella flats). And now it even has a vintage case

NICE. I’d love a proper case for mine. That’s as cool as cases get.

Good score.
That is quite a Bass VI !
Matching headstock + B&B is my favorite combo. Great color too.
Did you paint the headstock DIY or have someone do it for you?

Useless? It’s a hard case that fits your VI. That’s awesome.

Is the Bass VI case different (dimensionally) from an Electric XII case?

Here's a quote from an ancient thread on here answering that very question:Highnumbers wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 8:14 amIs the Bass VI case different (dimensionally) from an Electric XII case?
Maulden7 wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2011 8:45 amI can tell you for certain that the original Bass VI will not fit into either a original Fender Jag / Jazzmaster or an Electric XII case, the guitar is simply too long.
The only genuine Fender case that is long enough for a Bass VI is one for the Bass V, but this is even longer.
Both the correct original Fender Bass V & Bass VI cases are unique for these guitars.
So if you have a case that your Bass VI fits into, then it is a genuine Bass VI case.
I have never, ever even seen a picture of a Bass V case. They must be among the rarest out there!

Super cool. I understand why you grabbed it. Looks great!
And I have to admit, the matching headstock on your VI looks superb...regardless of what the decal might say.

Exactly my thoughts - not useless at all.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 6:11 pmUseless? It’s a hard case that fits your VI. That’s awesome.
