1964 JM - Trem arm compatibility

Post by franciscotheman » Sat Aug 01, 2020 1:20 pm

Hello,

I have a 1964 Jazzmaster without the original (or any) trem arm. I get the sense that the arm has to be pre-1965 to not damage the tremelo receptacle for the original vibrato tailpiece, but was wondering if there are any compatible non-vintage parts on the market.

I've used a new USA bar in an old trem - can't remember if it was a perfect fit though!

A bar made for a Squier won't fit though. ...because of the Metric System.

I have also bought a reissue trem arm and they fit fine! The only trouble is they seem to be in the wrong shape - so keep an eye out for that if it matters to you.
