Great find and excellent news regarding those pickup covers! Pick guard looks a lot nicer after sanding too.Pacafeliz wrote: βSat Jun 06, 2020 7:08 am
MUCH BETTER!
BUT SHIT of course I forgot to put the alu shield in before! but oh well... I'll open her up again soon enough. Gotta check the wiring cuz I think there's something not quite right.
And good news regarding the pup covers:
From that site in the UK that sells the pair for Β£6 or so! Fingers crossed!

Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Congratulations! This is really cool.
I have got 2000 wet sand paper. I also have to sand a molested pickguard soon (a 1965 Mustang one).
You can get such sandpaper at special car paint shops.

More random pics
Stringthru plug is clearly visible
So comparing it to my Maverick, this one evidently has the modded XII neck (see 1st pic I posted), I bet it has a neck stamp that starts with 12 and ends with 66 - will check tomorrow.
So once and for all: the guitar/model was FIRST called Custom, and later on (with the purposedly built necks?) Maverick.
I wasn't sure about that myself, as there are both versions but I'll stick with this.
Of all the Customs I've seen online, this one is the one with the lowest serial number (226xxx).

Re: Insane unexpected NGD! - now revealed!
No man! It just popped up on a local facebook guitar forum. I PM'd the guy about the price and for more pics. He answered about 3 days later, then everything went quick. He'd had it for around 20 years he says.BoringPostcards wrote: βSat Jun 06, 2020 4:54 amWow Pat, you've done it again. You have obtained the unobtainable.

Re: Insane unexpected NGD! - now revealed!
Sehr erfolgreich! I assumed it was a Kleinanzeigen find at first, but this proves Facebook Marketplace is also worthy of checking out. So neat seeing how the red remains underneath the pickguard. Very envious! Also cool amps, what's the story on those?
