Billie Joe Armstrong (GREEN DAY) Vintage Jaguar

Post by FenderBob » Fri Apr 17, 2020 1:40 pm

Billie Joe Armstrong of GREEN DAY plays a vintage modded Jaguar in this youtube cover of Manic Monday.

Don't think I've seen him with a jag before. Sure that those are P90's. What also kind of interesting is that Susanna Hoffs appears in the video and it looks like she might still be playing the Rickenbacker guitar from her glory days.

Ah, he's fine. I like how they are playing a simple two chord progression from A to D and she's jumping around like the the joint is really jumping,
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I wonder if they are stacked P90's like his Gibsons?

billie joe armstrong's voice seems to resonate at that exact frequency that makes me annoyed.

as for the jaguar, looks like a early 60's jaguar. cant really think why it would be beneficial to the sound to add p-90's though.

I recognize the tort on that Jaguar. It was sitting on Craigslist here in in LA for months. I guess one of Billie Joe's underlings scooped it up. If I recall the pickups were vintage clear bobbin P-90's.

Looooove Susanna Hoffs and The Bangles.

You're not alone there, his voice kinda fits their early snot-punk years, but it just hasn't aged well as as Green Day has ventured into more straightforward rock.

Suzanna Hoffs, however... .what a babe. Robo Babe, even. Baberaham Lincoln

He looks like he is trying to pull off Billy Joel's look as to Billie Joe.

Yeah. That. It is weird, looking at that, knowing she's all alone in that room, just playing guitar. I mean... maybe it's super fun and I should try it the next time I'm alone in a room, playing guitar? I've just been doing it wrong, I guess.

She never played a 620. She plays a 350, which is just a full scale version of the 325 used by Lennon.
