Drop in replacement for vintage single line kluson tuners
Have recently acquired a 1964 Jaguar in almost completely original condition. I aim to make some upgrades to improve playability but nothing that is not reversible.
Original tuners are present and work fine but arent super smooth and I would obviously appreciate the higher gear ratio of a modern set
I've been comparing the kluson staggered post supremes and gotoh adjustable post SD91s, leaning towards the klusons as they have a higher gear ratio.
Gotohs: https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/hardware-part ... tyle-p2734
kluson supremes: https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/hardware-part ... sts-p13425
I also came across these which arent reproductions (not bothered too bothered by this, they will look pretty much the same from the front anyway)

Anybody got any experience with the above, i'd be really interested if the kluson revolution outline is the same as the vintage tuners as the nitro is fairly faded around the tuners and much lighter underneath.
Thanks in advance for the offset wisdom

They should all work just fine- the Revolution tuners are my favorites at the moment.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I'm going to go for the revolutions and see if fit nicely into the existing wear marks on the headstock which it looks like they will. Never been a tremolo guy but im really loving the jag trem so have gone for the locking versions too, not had them before but sounds like they should help with tuning stability with the trem.
@greens ill let you know how i get on

Re: Drop in replacement for vintage single line kluson tuners
I haven't replaced the tuners on an actual vintage offset, but I did replace the tuners on a MIJ Jazzmaster, and two AVRI Fenders, and a 1979 Lead 2, and some vintage Bullets (not all of which used that footprint).
In all cases the Kluson Revolutions were direct retrofits.
Also, be sure to use your original screws and not the replacement ones, and keep your original grommets in the headstock's face, save yourself trouble and reduce the possibility of tear out.
Get the locking ones and step into the 21st century! They are incredible.
What you will need with the Klusons, by the way, is their "no collar" model. Good luck!

I got the locking revolution tuners (thanks to Larry’s dilligent salesmanship ) and must say I absolutely LOVE them. Rock solid tuners.

Don't worry, when I took the guitar apart to inspect it I made a little wooden jig with a place for every screw so they can go back in the right spot.
Your locking tuner agenda is getting me quite excited to try them!
