Woah! Crazy play wear and fading on this one. Very cool!!

Do you think it's original?
I was wondering the same thing. The tailpiece looks way too clean, even for a “closet classic” but especially when compared to the finish wear. Speaking of which, how on earth would you get wear like this behind the tailpiece and around the lower horn?

I don’t mean to be critical, just curious. It is a great-looking instrument!

Cheers!
J
Again, whether you believe or not is not really important to me, so I don't feel the need to convince anyone.

BUT, since my opinion and observations on my own guitar seem to be questionned, I will reaffirm: this finish is 100% original, all the parts are original to this guitar (the clean metal parts were polished gently with a 0000 grade steel wool, try it, you will end up with parts as clean as this!) and the wear is absolutely real, this is not a fake relic job. Wear is perfectly consistent with someone playing seated for years and years.

Yep, all looks original to me.

No reason for the tailpiece to be in anything other than excellent condition - FWIW the scratched/filthy/corroded/otherwise damaged tailpieces are usually from people's terrible attempts at 'relic' jobs.

I think you took my comment about the finish the wrong way.

It’s a great looking guitar, and you have every reason to be proud!

Enjoy.
J.

What a great week! Amazing pair! :-* :-*

Especially love the JM. That faded finish! :? - the peak under the guard is pretty great comparison. No faking that!

I love my current jag ( a '63) but I'm still haunted by an amazing pearl dot '64 I played years ago.

Congrats! How do they play and sound?
Is that a Bassman RI?

Beautiful. Very rarely can people convincingly fake genuine wear like that. Enjoy!
