Nothing much 58 about the above Jazzmaster other than the neck maybe, the decal looks to have no pat numbers, which is correct for 58,59 and early 1960. That's if the decal is original.

I'm guessing the neck plate dates it to 58 and why he thinks it's that year. But as has been said lots of things wrong for 58.

Could be a parts master. The tuner bushings have been out that neck, so it's had a bit of a past. Definite refin.

I'd rock the shit out of it regardless!

And by rock the shit out of it, I mean I'd play the same lame licks I've been playing for a decade with it through an amp at below bedroom levels in my apartment. 8)

Haha yeah! I'd shit, and THEN rock so hard I'd have to shit again in about 16 hours!

I think he started to get cagey, and I had to explain my mistaking my interest in dating / discovering that JM, when they were clearly far beyond his. He'll never let me pop off the neck or pickguard. He did say I could bring an amp (his daughter doesn't even have an amp!) and play it. Which I will; I've never played any vintage guitar, even if it is a partsmaster...

i guess SOMEWHERE will it have the red NATURAL stamp, maybe under the pickup shields?
i can't believe i'm not able to find a pic, but over many years i owned a natural 1972 Strat that had that stamp in one pickup cavity.
seems like 1972 was the only year... maybe i'll contact Fender to see if there is a registry of how many they made of them.

Serial number 361xxx does place it in 1972, still. If you look online for natural 1972 Fender you will also find Strats, Teles and basses. Must've been a big thing that year.

yeah - i thought maybe the neck could be early, too - but then i saw an 'H' in "SYNCHRONIZED", when in fact they didn't have the H back then - it should say SYNCRONIZED, yes, misspelled.

cheers anyway!
