Guy here has a 70s B&B Jazzmaster, beat up nicely. Thought it was a de-fin/refin, but he insists it's all original. White pickguard and witchhats.

Can this be legit? :derp:

My buddy Phil (he posts here, too) has a '73 Fender Jazzmaster in original natural finish that absolutely blew my mind a month of so back. He brought it in for a setup and had me install 13s, and I'm telling you that guitar was amazing! Loud, clear, sporting an incredibly comfortable neck that made me rethink '70s Jazzmasters altogether. Even better was that it was no heavier than my 8lb Thin Skin Jazzmaster. Incredible.

Do love that bass cover on the Jag!
Found this in an old thread using Google, looks like there were some!

Sweet Jesus yes. Tell him I want to buy it and HAVE to have it! Seriously, put me in touch!

The natural B+B Jazzmasters are the reason I joined this forum and have been my holy grail guitar ever since. I will literally sell my organs for one!

I want it. So bad.
Working on it. Leaving on Monday I don't think it'd be here in time. Would/will have to wait until next year to pick it up... aaaargh!!!

Unless it comes with original paperwork stating it was a factory custom order, assume its a refin - its 99% going to be a strip and refin.

There is no mention of natural finished jazzmasters in any of the 50s , 60s or 70s Fender catalogues or price lists.

Jazzmasters were dead in the water in the 70s, no one wanted a sunburst one, let alone a custom ordered one (although there are some out there).

I'd guess the Jazzmaster was stripped in the 70s not long after it was bought, it was the done thing then - so the finish may well look old.

This is what I thought too.

It has no traces of color whatsoever. But he just raised the price cuz he now insists/knows/believes it's 100% original... :'(

Btw the serial number places it 1972

That's a stunner! Slightly confused seller though, say's 100% original. Also say's great sounding P90's :D

wow, well there doesn't seem any doubt about that...unless it was stripped with dental tools and refinished by a master fraudster, that's original!

That looks legit, never knew these existed. I guess since natural finishes were popular in the 70s Fender tried it on some Jazzmasters to try and help sell them.

I would be interested in seeing detailed pics of an all original natural 58 as well.
