'65 Jazzmaster neck with metal neck screw: jury rigged microtilt?

So the neck stamp checks out, all be it a bit faded, then he flipped it over and i saw this. What's y'alls thoughts? Has anyone seen something like this before? Almost looks like a crude microtilt.

Then do you think this headstock is a refin? If so it's either aged well or old. The nut and frets have been changed and the tuners englarged.

Reminds me of Bill Frisell, in a good way.

Yeah, I may be the new Bill Frisell then... in the fact that i’ll have a LPB headstock on a non-matching body. :D

It’s certainly unique.

That greened out LPB is my favorite Fender custom color.

Just FYI, that guitar was not a partial refin (as advertised in the reverb listing). I know the previous owner—he'd been sitting on the neck for a few years and put the neck on a loaded refin body he bought separately. It doesn't really make a difference either way (65 parts are 65 parts), but the listing raised an eyebrow when I saw it.

Really? So is the LPB original to the neck at least? PM'd you; my interest is perked.

Yeah afaik the neck is 100% original finish; no idea what color the body was originally but it came to the previous owner complete-minus-neck and he put them together. It is a super rad guitar!

Interesting, that is really cool to know, in fact. Do you have the link? I was thinking of possible refin colours, and sunburst would have been the one, but don't know how the vintage sunburst and the LPB headstock would get on together.
