Is this original? https://greenville.craigslist.org/msg/d ... 81792.html

I really hope it is. Beautiful guitar. The only thing that give me pause is that the pickguard reminds me of one I saw on a 90's japanese reissue. Something about the color. I'm going to see it in person tomorrow, but I'm a neophyte and wanted to know if anyone on here could spot something that gave it away.

I can't tell from the photos, but I'd be pretty careful. Based on the predilection for 80's metal guitars and the location, I'd bet it's the same seller from this thread.

The seller parted out a JM on Reverb, purportedly all-original except a refin. A few OSG members identified the body as a modern, CNC-cut one. When one of the OSG members sent a message about it, the seller issued a bunch of blustery denials. The seller then pulled the listing but then listed the body on eBay with a description written in a way that suggests that the body is vintage without ever stating that directly. The eBay ad also eliminates the pictures that originally made it identifiable as a copy. Shady. Several members have reported it to eBay. The seller has a fair amount of good feedback, and the Jag you're interested in could be all original, but I'd ask to look at all the parts, wiring, and routing, take photos and have them vetted here if you don't feel comfortable doing that yourself. If the seller balks, just walk away.

Here is a thread in the Hall of Shame about them as well.

Since I can't get to the private boards, would someone mind PMing me his ebay handle so I can see the listings and feedback? Thanks.

His eBay and Reverb usernames are in the Hall of Shame post I linked. I don't think the HoS is private.

It's stomp-boxer to n EBay and Big Hair Nation on Reverb.

If you are buying that Jag as 100% original you need to see pics of the body neck pocket and a pic with the pickguard removed and also pics of the pots. The pics on the ad don't say very much.

Maybe he was burned on the LPB and was genuinely unaware?

The sunburst one looks very nice!

I think that's entirely possible. It's the actions afterward that are troubling. Really glad to hear that the Jag looks good though OP! I hope something works out for you. I got a dream deal on an old Jag a few years ago, and it's been my favorite ever since.

Just remember: it's a buyers market on vintage jags. There are so many nice and cheaply priced 65s out there. If you have any doubts, just move on. There will always be more.

The guy Is a proven con man. He still has a fake body for sale as genuine vintage, and if it was an innocent mistake at first, it isn’t now, he has deliberately hidden the trem cavity from view by putting a trem unit on.

Seriously good luck with the purchase if you go ahead. If it was me I wouldn’t buy a bucket of water from him if my guitar was on fire
