Dots and binding Bass VI

Post by N0_Camping4U » Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:02 am

After seeing pretty much every Fender with transitional dots and binding ... I realized I don’t think I have bass vi With just dots and binding. Do they exist?

Yes, but I’ve only ever seen one. A sunburst.

hmm interesting. I wonder if custom colors exist. Theoretically if these do I'm sure some exist. As I've seen another poster say: "With Fender, never say never". Thank you for showing me these. I guess that solves that...

Now... does P bass with a matching headstock exist.... Maybe I need to make another topic on that...

Maybe...but I've been collecting VI's for many years, and this is the only one I've ever come across..it has to be close to a one off. There is also this which is most certainly a one off!

Early 60’s electronics w/ late 60’s black b&b neck?

Yeh it looks like it went back to fender for a new neck and a factory refresh in ‘67 and came back like that.

That sounds like the most plausible scenario where that body and neck met. I’ve read there were only around 800 VI’s produced in the original run. If so, the black b&b neck has to be very rare.

That's what they say, and something I used to believe pre-internet..but since then, what with the amount that pop up for sale worldwide, I have a feeling it's a lot higher than that.

Back in the day at least in my world in the UK, they were very hard to find. Jazzmasters/Jaguars were ten a penny compared. Odd-balls like the ones above you would never have believed existed!
