I would have to assume there some aftermarket bridgework going on to avoid any strings popping out of the saddles for some of the aggressive picking he doing… Especially at 2:15 into the song where he starts playing high up the neck.
Take notice to the strange design on the back of the guitar at around 3:15 into this clip as he is handing it off to one of the stagehands for guitar swap.

That was actually really killer. Gotta love that Nokie Edwards style. Thanks for sharing.

Stop Press: OOPS ... looks like I got that one totally wrong !!! Apologies. RIP Nokie.

Pity JB disses the JM around 2:28 .. the 'no key'-caster as he calls it. That just sat forever on his wall. For a guy who
really knows guitars I'd expect
some recognition that you
can make them work. I guess it's not a 58 LP.

He's paying tribute to Nokie Edwards who had recently died and was a member of The Ventures who were stars of surf music.

I didn't see any 'aggressive' picking, and that looks to be all stock. You can hit the strings much harder than that and not have issues with the standard bridge IME.
timtam: I don't think that's actually his guitar - He owns a '66 Jazzmaster in Seafoam Green w/ matching headstock though.

I heard Jazzmaster sounds but wasn't blown away by the sound of that guitar in the video. Sorry, but that was my first thought
(could also be the quality of the recording etc.)

↑ this! 99% sure that it's the stock bridge which is not causing as many issues as people think

A quick instagram search solved the mystery:

I didn't particularly enjoy that clip either. May be my earbuds. Sounded very thin to me.

Seems like it was filmed on a phone and not properly mixed.

Stock bridges have never been a problem for my guitars. 63 JM & late 64 Jag
Even with heavy picks and usually ham-fisted chunking, never had a string pop completely off a saddle.
10-52 strings may be a factor?
