Fender Guitar/Amp mating chart - are YOU using the right amp?!
I've been doing a lot of research on Starcasters this last week or so and came across this in "The Collected Works of Fender", otherwise known as their 1976 catalogue.
I've got a Starcaster on the way (makes me sound pregnant!) and was given a 65 Deluxe Reverb RI on hire for a gig the other day. The gig was abroad so I'd taken a cheapo Hondo 335 copy with me, which to be fair had always sounded decent, but the DRRI made it sound absolutely phenomenal! So now I'm REALLY jonesing for one of those to go with the Starcaster. Surely a match made in heaven?
But then I found this chart in the catalogue. Seems none of us offsetters should be anywhere near a Deluxe Reverb unless we've got Mustangs or student models. Hmm...
What do we think of this? Marketing ploy and total picked out of the air nonsense or cold hard fact and engineering obviousness?
Anyone got any experience to share either way or thoughts on why these pairings are so?

could you find a blurrier, darker screengrab? That one's too easy to read.

Hah, only a Bronco or MusicMaster should be anywhere near a Champ. Another useless chart from Fender.
Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

The basic gist seems to be “pro” level guitars need big amps with lots of clean headroom. Sounds like sales bullshit to me.

Just spotted - no jazzmaster+twins!! Someone tell every US/canadian grungey/alt band for the past 30 years they've broken the rules!

I remember when I was 12 and first started playing. I thought a Fender amp would not be compatible with my epiphone because the brands were different

Hope this works...should be a bit easier to read/follow. Let me know if I named something wrong (in particular the first and fifth guitar amps...I'm assuming it says "100 PA" and "Super Six Reverb"? Those entries were blurry/smudged in the original.

Re: Fender Guitar/Amp mating chart - are YOU using the right amp?!
Thanks mate! Sterling effort!
The text at the side is worth mentioning, just for the laffs:
Fender fretted instruments and amplifiers are designed to coordinate with one another. Every Fender electric or steel guitar is compatible with every guitar amplifier. Every bass works with every bass amp. This catalog lets you match the instruments of your choice.
Because of the variables in design and usage, some instruments make better mates than others. Fender engineers have tested all combinations. Their recommendations for maximum performance between fretted instrument and amplifier are shown in these charts. To find their choices, select a guitar or bass in the left-hand column, follow across to the point where it meets an amplifier from the top column.
Mate your Fenders. And you can be sure, they'll make beautiful music together.
And of course, "We recommend you purchase Fender Instruments solely through an Autorised Fender Dealer."

Vibrolux is a great match for a Jazzmaster so don't know where it was dreamt up.
