Another offset, Mosrite Joe Maphis 1962-63 Pre-The Ventures Model.

Hi folks.

This is another of my offset, I do not know how this Mosrite could get to Mexico, but I'm happy to find it a few months ago.

Mosrite Joe Maphis Side jack 1962-63 Pre The Ventures

Beautiful and extremely rare !!

Semie Moseley made between 1961-63 approximately 25 Mosrite Joe Maphis all with small differences to this because they were hand made by Moseley himself with his brother, who helped him tie some bodies
It is said that in 1963 Nokie Edwards (The Ventures) saw one of these models and fell in love, contacted Semie Moseley to make the guitars for The Ventures, Moseley took the design of the model that Edwards had liked and took the model. Ventures in 1963, the first impression of the "Sidejack" model was established in the neck and very few were made around 200.

These Mosrite for some time were thought to be prototypes because they are very rare.

It has one of the first tremolos with dumb "Vibramute" that Semie made to try to sell to Guild.

The pickguard, along with the circuit are not original. The one who did the work did it wrong.
Everything else original, finish, frets, bridge, pickups, tuners (single line kluson), etc.

There is something strange about this guitar, it does not have a serial number, it has some numbers on the vibramute (I have seen another Joe Maphis that has the same types of numbers) I have been told that it can be from the factory and be a type of prototype or something like that.

If you know any other information about the model or the same brand in those first years, it would be good to read them.

Sorry for my English, I hope you understand my description well.

Greetings from Mexico.

Arthur.
