NGD: 1973 Fender Jazzmaster Sonic Blue ~
My first vintage offset!
1973 --
Refinished in Sonic Blue (pretty good nitro refin, not perfect but looks great)
Recently refretted
Pure Vintage 65 Pickups
New pickguard
New bridge
Original electronics under the pickguard
Original witch hat knobs
Original hardshell case
This thing is pretty damn light. I don't like Sonic Blue but man, it looks so good with the big block inlays and bound neck.

That's one fine axe. Congrats

Looks great! Shame it doesn't have the original pickups. 70s JM pickups have a really nice and distinct tone.

Thanks man! It has a good sized neck... coming from Jaguars, (albeit, the Johnny Marr having a chunkier neck but still much smaller than this) this neck feels so good.
I would have loved to try it out. Though I am absolutely in love with the Pure Vintage. Maybe my favorite JM pickups.sunburster wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 9:21 pmLooks great! Shame it doesn't have the original pickups. 70s JM pickups have a really nice and distinct tone.

Looks amazing. To be totally honest, the TOM bridge bugs me af, but other than that, what a stunner!

Very cool, shame about the pickups. Imagine this in firemist silver

That is rather nice! Liking the combination of the sonic blue with the block inlays

Thanks everyone. It's a really fun one to play, even unplugged. I really didn't expect the neck to be this comfortable (I'm not too knowledgeable on vintage offsets) but I'm definitely loving it.
I bought this kind of impulsively because it was a good deal.
My main one in mind is still an Aztec Gold AVRI 65 JM. I'll be putting this up for sale to fund for it. But I thought it wouldn't hurt to play with a vintage one for a while being a first time owner of one.
If anyone is interested just giving you guys a heads up.

Re: NGD: 1973 Fender Jazzmaster Sonic Blue ~
I'm gradually getting to like the bound and block look, although a vintage Sonic Blue dot-neck was my dream guitar at one stage.
That looks very nice.
Pickups are neither here nor there, shop around for vintage units orswap and chop and find your ideal tone.
The covers look relatively stock so, no harm no foul...
One of the pickups in my 63 is mid 70s.
