NGD: 1965 Mustang LPB over White

I recently picked up this amazing 65 Mustang. I love the slinky feel and sound of the trem on these and I highly recommend trying one if you haven't yet.

It came to me with schaller tuners and aftermarket knobs. I replaced the tuners with the correct Vintage Klusons and found what I think are the correct knobs. The finish seems to be LPB over a couple layers of white.

Check out the slab fret board and the shadow left from a couple of flower stickers!

I am curious what the experts here can say about the following;

Are either of those whites seen on the back the original finish? If so, would a pearl pick guard like this be original to a white finish?
Do the switches looks original ? (My guess is no)

Do original 65 Mustang knobs have a hex screw or a flat head screw?

That's a neck with some character! The Lake Placid Blue really suits and you did well to get the tuners back on. It wouldn't look right without them.

That's one hot Mustang! I love my 66 to pieces. The finish underneath appears to be some kinda of primer/undercoat rather than an original oly white. The refinish looks slightly rough in the pics, but hey, the color is killer and it's got character. Looking hawt!! :?

The Neck is indeed the best part of this guitar. Perfectly worn in. Feels amazing and is a great size!

Regarding the pearl pick guard, I've got a 65 Mustang with one too:

Not sure if it's original but sure looks old. This Mustang was originally a red one I think.

It does look like the same one, with the non original tuners and black trem tip. Listed as a 66.

Similar color, but different guitar I assure you. Good to know I can get a black tremolo tip though!
