Is this a refin?

I have to say, i have an original finish 1966 Duosonic II in Dakota red and though it has chunked off to a lesser extent, the checking is equally as crazy, and the chunks that HAVE come off reveal a similarly thick finish with a thing white-ish primer

Just realized photobucket now wants me to pay them $100/year to post pictures on forums, so i guess i’ll be moving photo hosting elsewhere...Sorry i cant share my finish!

Yeah my same thoughts about my 66 Mustang...

I dunno guys. Usually I can spot a refin from a mile away, but I and a couple other guys who own original guitars with this same finish aren't so sure about this one. Take that FWIW.

I vote refinished. Lacks the typical undercoat. Neck pocket is wrong. Finish is a thick single layer of chalky material that doesn't wear in the typical way.
