Swamp ash is light if it comes from the lower part of the tree, because of water. It is heavy if it's cut in the higher parts. Northern ash is heavy because those trees do not grow up in water as swamp ashes.
So it depends, ash can be heavier than alder, or lighter. Alder is more consistent in weight.
The transparent red Jazz looks like alder, I agree.
