Cool guitar! Bummer about the pickups but hopefully you can get some money back.
If it were mine I would just get some aftermarkets in there enjoy! No idea what pickups those are but if they sound good...

Yeah had the exact same thought, had a thought about getting some nice pickups put in it when I got it before I found out about these charlatan pups, but I thought nah, dont change from original. Suppose it takes away that quandary.kosmonautmayhem wrote:Cool guitar! Bummer about the pickups but hopefully you can get some money back.

Re: NGD - 1964 Fender Jaguar
At last very cool, supernice Jaguar! Congrats!
I was also near to bid for this guitar... but at last I didn´t want to raise the price for others..
I watched also the pics at the auction and thought. Oh, the neck pickup is not the original Jag pickup?!
You said it sounds great, so why not just play it like it is?
(but I know if I had bought it and the basic sounds good I would try to get correct pickups to the Jaguar.)
Anyway, great Jag! Have fun!

If they are from a Strat of the same year they are prolly worth a few bob.Colin wrote:Odd thing is though it sounds really great, I wonder where the pickups came from.

nice guitar, but I think the bridge is not a vintage one , it looks like an early japanese bridge to me.

Those are absolutely not vintage 60's Fender strat pickups. The bobbins look to be made of a molded black plastic (e.g. ABS), the leads are poly-insulated, and the coil is taped.Johno wrote:If they are from a Strat of the same year they are prolly worth a few bob.Colin wrote:Odd thing is though it sounds really great, I wonder where the pickups came from.

Seems unlikely that someone would butcher some extremely valuable strat pickups to put them in a refin jag.Johno wrote:If they are from a Strat of the same year they are prolly worth a few bob.Colin wrote:Odd thing is though it sounds really great, I wonder where the pickups came from.

Re: NGD - 1964 Fender Jaguar
The seller says the guitar belonged to their son and wasn't aware the pickups had been changed. My guess is they have crapped out and just been replaced with spares. She has agreed to refund me the cost of a set of suitable replacements which is good news I suppose, I quite fancy The Creamery 64 Classic ones. Anyone any experience with these?

Yeah I'd be inclined to agree.MechaBulletBill wrote:Seems unlikely that someone would butcher some extremely valuable strat pickups to put them in a refin jag.Johno wrote:If they are from a Strat of the same year they are prolly worth a few bob.Colin wrote:Odd thing is though it sounds really great, I wonder where the pickups came from.

Re: NGD - 1964 Fender Jaguar
Decided on the Creamery pickups as I've heard really good things and they are fairly local, kinda. I messaged the guy about the pickups and everything seems good for him to do them for me and he said he will send me an invoice, however that was almost a month ago and still no invoice. I appreciate he must be really busy but a month to just write the invoice before he even makes a start on the pickups is a bit long, no? Or am I just being too impatient?
