Finally picked up the JM from getting setup... Man is it really good. Pickups both measure in the mid 6k's when in circuit. The pots date to '64, and I'm thinking that the pickups might be from '64 too as they don't sound nearly as bright as the ones in my '66. The rhythm circuit is also the best I've ever tried (not sure if anyone else has this problem, but my tech and I both feel like every vintage JM has a slightly different sounding rhythm circuit). Its super clean on this JM. Doesn't sound muddy at all when flipped on with the tone wide open. I really didn't want to like this guitar as much as I do, as I thought I'd use it to get myself into a vintage tele. But man is it good. Its the most resonant and sweet sounding JM I've ever owned. It's now tied at #1 for my favorite Jazzmasters that I've ever played, alongside a LPB '62 Slab board JM I played a couple years back. This just doesn't have a bad tone in it. The frets are surprisingly good as is. Definitely would play better with a refret, but plays really well as is. I'll do a full shoot tomorrow next to my '66, but here's a teaser! I love being able to compare and contrast these two.

I'm just going to pretend that you bought TP's JM.

There's nothing like a yellowed jazzmaster. Nothing. And I love the tort on it, not so light/not so dark.

Gonna pretend you bought Mr Petty's jazz too. ::)

That's a really lovely Jazzmaster. Happy NGD!

I've a soft spot for Olympic White - I love it on Telecasters, especially when it's yellowed and worn.

May it wear well OP.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

God, that's lovely. That checking on the back is glorious. All I want is a yellowed out, beat to hell Blond/Olympic White 60's Jazzmaster with a matching headstock and tort guard. No way I'll be able to afford it anytime soon, but hopefully one day.

Enjoy it! I'd love to hear some soundclips.
